6+ months contract in Austin, TX

 

Network Engineer

LOCATION: Austin, TX

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Administer and support Tx DOT’s state wide network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers and access points, load balancers, SONET multiplexers, IP address management system, Linux based FTP, list, and log servers, and Windows and Linux based RADIUS servers.  Provide tier 3 support for technical problems with network, servers, applications, etc., as needed.  Baseline applications for capacity planning.  Monitor network and provide reports on usage, outages, errors, etc.  Analyze packet captures as needed.  Document network physical and logical layouts.            

 

     Minimum Requirements:

Routing and switching technologies such as: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP

Firewall/IDS/IPS administration

Working with operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Linux

           

             Preferences:

Skills/Experience

Routing and switching technologies such as: OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, MPLS, Ethernet, FiberChannel, FCoE

10

Network security configurations, protocols such as RADIUS, 802.1x

10

Firewall/IDS/IPS administration

10

Maintaining code on network equipment

10

Network monitoring and capacity planning

10

Working with operating systems including Microsoft Windows, Linux, AIX, Novell

5

VoIP planning, design, implementation, and support

5

Experience with wireless technologies

5

Experience with Cisco routers and switches

5

Experience diagraming networks with Microsoft Visio

5

Multimedia experience including live & on demand AV broadcasting

5

Project management or experience with large project implementation

 

ITIL V3 knowledge or certification

 

Working knowledge of  VMWare
